The VP4 has not been made since 1954 or so I was told by a Wisconsin distributor The VP4 is rated at 23.5 horse at 1400 26.8 horse at 1600
29.0 horse at 1800
30.2 horse at 2000
31.0 horse at 2200 The manual says the mag from a VG4 will not work on a VP4. I did switch mags once, got it to run on a couple of cylinders then moved plug wires around till it ran smooth. The fireing order is the same. The VG4 has a different cam in it I believe. The VG4 is rated at 25 Horse at 1400 RPM 29 Horse at 1600 RPM 32 Horse at 1800 RPM 34 Horse at 2000 RPM 36 Horse at 2200 RPM 37 Horse at 2400 RPM
Wisconsin would have had to make some internal changes to the VG4 engine to get more HP out of it. The newer engine have inserts on the rod bearings. Back in 1965 the VG4 still had poured rods.

The VP4 is more HP than the VG4, a New Holland dealer should be able to get mag parts because these engines were used on NH forage harvesters and similar engines on NH balers, there are numbers on the side of the mag, one side has more numbers stamped than the other side, it could have a Wico or Fairbanks Morse brand, let me know if you can't find anything.
