Had no spark on B&S engine on my Troy Built Tiller. Replaced points, condenser, and spark plug.

Now I have spark to plug. However, I don't know what the appropriate "gap" should be between conderser and point. Can anyone provide that????

Thanks

Most, if not ALL Briggs points are gapped at .020".

Bob;

Thanks for the reply. Set gap at 0.020" and ran GREAT.

Now I bump into problem #2. Engine ran GREAT after re-gapping etc. However, keyway sheared and now the keyway groove is severly distorted. Not sure why this happened.

Now, I'm at a loss of how to fix the distorted keyway groove. Any suggestions????? ??

Thanks

Replace the key, and tighten the flywheel TIGHT. You could even put a little locktite on it.

(I would not recommend the locktite on a MOWER engine, because if the blade hits an obstacle, the key needs to shear, but on the tiller engine, I would think you'd be OK.)

Mower engines use a SOFT key so it shears easily, but on the tiller engine, you could use a steel key, if you can find one that matches up, which would be better with the worn keyway.
