Looking for a source of service information on the following electric generator set I got out of an old high school. Seems to never have been used - looks almost new. I suspect it's from the 1950s or 1960s. Also, I suspect the Continental four cylinder gas flathead is around 30 horsepower. Anybody know the exact size? The ID tag reads as thus: Fairbanks Morse Model 5SJ 4324P23Y4-F1, ser.# yx4109012, 1800 RPM, engine:
Continental EPS364, #284200, engine-generator set Model B15A-204 KVA 18.75 78
amps full load, unit # C-353G

A rule of thumb on horse power is that it takes 2 horse to power up 1 KW. So I would guess your engine is 36 horse or a little better.

That's a GREAT resource, but I've quit referring people there, as the crabby old coot that owns that site DOES NOT LIKE posts on his site that direct people HERE to Kim's sites.

I used to be a regular there. Several times I posted there with a helpfull link to one of these sites (Kim's), when I knew someone here could help someone looking for help at the "other" site.

The "other" site's webmaster would quickly delete those posts, and, after several emails from him explaining why he didn't want ANY links to THIS site (Kim's), I quit posting on his site, or posting links HERE to his site.

There was nothing obnoxious, libelous, etc., in the posts, he just simply did not like people to be referred HERE for help, even when they weren't getting replies over at the "other" site.

Too bad, both sites are wonderfull resources. I've never known Kim to delete a post with a link to the "other" site, yet Harry, at the "other" site is offended by links to Kim's sites!
