Kohler (wisconsin?) VH4D parts?

Hoping someone here can help. My neighbor has an ancient generator that he needs parts for. (Says he needs a 'magneto'?) Ran great until about 2 weeks ago. Anyway, the plate on it says it's a KOHLER VH4D. Well, my search on the internet shows me that all the VH4D's I'm seeing are are all WISCONSIN VH4D's. Now, I know that Kohlers are manufactured in Wisconsin....sooooo.....is it safe to assume that a kohler vh4d and a wisconsin vh4d are one in the same or is that taking too big a leap?

Or, if you just know where I can find the part I'm sure he'd love that information too. LOL!

As I'm sure you all know, these things break at the WORST possible time. His generator went out the day before Hurricane Katrina! ACK! Hehehe... He decided to give it a tune-up and that's when it broke. He somehow managed to get it to work. (thanks goodness! We were without power for 6 days!) But says that it is now totally broken. After Katrina, none of us want to be without our generators again. So, understandably he wants to get it fixed ASAP! :)

Kohler made light plants with various engines.

I think it is safe to state the complete unit is a Kohler, the engine is a Wisconsin.

There are still lots of places that repair magnetos. If you can't find a place nearby, contact one of these places:
