I have a Homelite model 20 water pump.It is 1 1/2 inch intake and discharge. It is two cycle (16 to 1 gas oil mix) and weighs about 90 pounds. It appears to have quite a few years on it. Any information on this would be great. Nick Eike

Think that these engines were made by the original Poulan Chain Saw Co. in Shereveport La. in the late 40's and early 50's for their 2 man saws. They had a rotary valve governor that worked fine till it got scratches on the face plate, then it got mean to crank till you either lapped it smooth with valve grinding compound,or replaced it.

If this is the engine I am thinking of, it was used on pump, both diaphram and centrifical, and generater of various voltages. There is not alot out there on them. I do have an INTEK (sp) Manuel that shows this engine. Is the fuel tank below the engine?

I wanted to add some information that might help. It is a model 20S I listed as only model 20. Stamped on pump case is HOMELITE CORPORATION PORT CHESTER NEW YORK. Based on other older two cycle engines I own I put the horsepower at about 3 HP. Upon removing the spark plug I saw that the cylinder head is made of brass or bronze.Any help is great. Thank You Again
