I am looking for a magneto for my 1-1/2 HP Frost King Jr. Hope someone has one or may let me know which mag brand/model was fitted to this old engine originally.

Any help will be much appreciated

Did you ever find your magneto? I have a Sumter 30 and bracket that fits some Frost King engines. I might trade it. It is the type that bolts to the side of the hopper ??

According to Wendels Big Yellow Book, the Frost King engines were built by John Lauson Mfg Co. and almost exclusively used Sumter rotary (gear driven) magnetos. Most Lauson engines were built between 1916 and 1936 when the company went into recievership. Hope this helps.

Thanks Jeb,
Since my first post I have learned that the engine will need a Sumter 30 or a Sumter type JR mag to be original. I have looked high and low and under the pumkin but have not found one yet. I have tried Hit and Miss enterprises, Mark's Magnetos, Branson Enterprises, etc. ...no luck so far. Anybody out there with even a rebuildable core would be much appreciated. I hope someone would have one laying around and would want to part with it.
Jim

Here is a link and picture of my 1-1/2 hp Lauson "Frost King" working up a sweat.

I hope you find a magneto for your engine. I see them occasionally on eBay but they are not cheap.

Merry Christmas!!!
