I just traded for a Case Davis Wheel loader. It has a Wisconsin four cylinder engine on it. I beleive it is a Model W4, but I'm not sure. The i.d. plate ismissing from the fan shroud. It has distributor ignition. I think it was built in the early '70s. It is articulated and has four wheel drive. Thanks in advance for any help in identifying this engine and machine. doorman

Case-Davis trenchers around here used different series of V4 Wisconsin 4 cylinder engines. They usually are prefixed as something like VF4 or some series ofletters with the V designation. Don't recall seeing any with a W prefix in the model desighnation, . Try posting for the guy on here that uses the nam Zira, he seems to be pretty sharp on these engines.

This is not a trencher. It is an articulated 4-wheel drive front end loader. Later models used a Mitsubishi diesel. The parts guy at Case in Memphis Tn. couldn't tell me exactly, but he said he remembered seeing one years ago. Wisconsin lists a W4-1770,but I don't know if rhere is a connection between the two. Thanks doorman

Don't know if it the correct model for your unit, but a W4-1770 is a newer style 35hp wisconsin v4 engine, so it could very well be W4-1770 engine
