I have a friend that has IN IH model M 1 to 3 hp enigne that is missing the magneto. It has an ignitor rather than a standard spark plug. does anyone know where he can find one, or if there is a way to rig it with something else? he is more interested in running than origianl.

John,
There were to maggies generaly used on the m type engines with some exeptions. Depending on which version u have (1 1\2hp or 3hp), they used either a WICO type EK maggie or the L type INTER rotary maggie. You can tell which maggie by the timing cover plate which will have either a trip mechanisim for the WICO or a bracket and big hole for the rotary maggie to bolt up to. I hope this has been of some help. P.S. If you go to google and type in "McCormick type m engine" there is a fantastic website from the netherlands dedicated to M types that has manuals and heaps of info to read.
