Just bought an 81 F600, and have had no luck in finding a service manual.

The Dealer does not carry one that old,
and the Parts stores do not stock one for something that big.

I don't think its big, but it is cool?

Try Helm for the service manual. I don't have the address here but try www.helm.com

Mine wasn't. But I traded it for my first crawler several years ago. Frame's now a part of one of my outbuildings, engine's in an F250, wheels are under my Linkbelt, 20' box is a storage building. F600 badge went on the F250. If you need a tranny or rear end I know where they are (cab got commercially recycled).

Thats what I figured, but for under $1000, what can you get.

It was used as a service truck, so has low mileage, maybe lots of idling, but is in good shape body wise, and running gear is good, tires are good, etc.

I Know I can get what I paid out of it, one way or another, just wanted to try something bigger than a pickup, for goosenecks.

If it works out well, I may buy a 90's in the spring, more dependable, and better parts availability.

Did find some manuals at books4cars.

Guess I should have added that my F600 worked well for what I bought it - moving from Denver to Virginia without having to pay for a rental truck. Then it served as a mobile storage shed for several years. Just never struck me as "cool".

I'm with you for wanting something bigger than a pickup. I ended up with a deuce and a half (strikes me as a little more cool). But not for $1000. No reason I know why you shouldn't drive yours for years if you want. That have "armstrong" power steering like my camoKaiser?

Power steering works good. I think the truck is cool because it has a 12/24 Briggs jumper and a compressor driven off the 370 and lots of tool boxes..... and, its my first real truck, first was a new Isuzu almost 20 years a go, great gas mileage and real handy.....but disposable, in MN anyway cuz of rust.

Hey Dennis,

Your F600 is definitely more interesting (unless you're into storage boxes) than the one I cut up. Have fun!
