Does anyone have any experiance with, or advice, recommendations, etc. on these power packs I'm seeing advertised everywhere lately?
There supposed to jump your car, run a spotlight, pump up a tire, run your cell phone, and on and on. doesn't say anything about being a good dessert topping.... Thanks

I have had mine for about 5 years now and it has gotten me out of MANY bad and otherwise crappy situations. I love it and wouldn't go anywhere with out it.

bought one for my wife, she likes to leave the side door open on the van. starts her car every time. also great for that little boost to get your tractor started. mine tells you if its hooked up backwards, beeps at you. bought mine at central tractor. my brother in-laws own an auto-wrecking yard and swear by them they start cars all the time with them

I got a red one at Sam's Club last year.. Its started lots of tractors, and it doesn't require driving my pickup into the mucky spot where the tractor conveniently ran out of charge. It isn't quite as strong as a 1000CCA Diehard on a Truck with a 100 Amp alternator, but it starts most things that just needed a little boost. Handy for testing trailer wiring also.
Do Not allow an idiot to hook it up wrong and short it out, or you will have melted plastic inside. Also Don't try to crank a Kenworth with it either. Major current drains are death on these things, not merely a pretty display of sparkies for the doofus that hooked up the two leads to ground.

I have a bulk fuel tank with no electric near. Used to pump by hand :-( Got smart & put on a 12-V pump, with a cigar lighter male plug on the electric line. To fuel a car just plug into the car's very own lighter socket. To fuel something with no 12-volt socket (snowmobile, mower, etc) I use the battery pack I got at Sam's Club for $60. I've also used that pack to give a helping ZAP to jump everything from my pickup to big diesels. Store it in a warm place & it still works even when the temp is -30*. Got it as a toy - now it's a "gotta have"!
