Our church has unit heater with 3 speed motor attached to squirrel cage fan. It also has a three position switch. We just got a new motor and I got it to work, but only with two speeds. Where can I find a wiring diagram to hook it up?

Some motors energize both sets of run windings to get the 3rd and slowest speed.

How many wires does your replacement motor have and what are their colors? you may or may not have a 3 speed motr. What is the brand of the replacement motor? Most motor shops sell FASCO brand replacement motors. You can go to www.fasco.com/pdf3/page36-38.pdf for hook-up diagrams for FASCO 3-speed motors.

Also what brand is your HVAC device? Carrier and Coleman have good sites that explain 3 speed hook ups.

I stand to be corrected but seems a 3sp will have 4 wires, 6 wires if it is capicitor start.

Are you sure you got a 3 speed replacement motor. It could be just 2 speeds. slowpokes wiring recommendation is about all I can say on that angle too.

There usually is a diagram somewhere on the cabinet cover. Or one should come with the new motor, maybe on the terminal cover, if not on a seperate paper.
