Thinking of buying a 6.5HP 60gal Husky brand air compressor (cast iron) for hobby use. Anyone own a Husky compressor, if so are they any good?

I was just looking at a Husky brand compressor at Home Depot this evening and found that the bar-code sticker with the price listed Campbell Hausfeld in the fine print. I've just been looking but as usual cannot find that specific model # on ch's web site. I'm going to e-mail them to confirm that they are indeed the manufacturer of model VT6315 which is a 5 peak HP, 26 gal vertical tank that is portable. Their web site is www.chpower.com if your interested in looking.

I was told that Husky compressors are made BY CH, but to Husky's specs. I don't know if that means the specs are higher, and/or if the people assembling them aren't idiots. The first CH unit I bought had one of the pieces screwed in all cockeyed - the regulator I think. It leaked. So I'm not all that hot on CH. But am I seriously thinking about getting a big Husky. I'm sick of the noisy oil-less compressor, plus I need more CFM.

I sure hope Husky"s are ok,, I just bought one.
It will not be installed for a month or so.
But the problem I have at the start is my oil level. I have the VT631400AJ model, this calls for 16 oz of oil. So I do that and on the dip stick its way over. Did this happen to anyone???? ED

I heard that it should read 6oz, not 16.

Just bought one of these Husky VT631400AJ compressors and the manual states 12oz. of oil! Anyone know how to reach the website for Husky tools?

I just tripped over this site, looking for the "Husky" site. I am ready to buy a HS 7810, 175 PSI, for $799.00 @ Homedepot. The price and SCFM fit my painting. Tell me yes or no, I don't want junk. What I woud do on the oil level, would be to put in what it calls for, run it for one minute, stop it and after 5 min. re - check it, keep this up until it is full. There must be a phone number to call.
Let me know Scotty

If you can post a pic, I can probably voice an opinion. Sounds like a unit built by another company and branded "Husky" since I have never heard of the brand. "6.5" hp raises some red flags for me though.
I built compressors for 6 years, fractional to several hundred horsepower, and maybe doing it again soon, for some real money this time!

Have seen the "Husky" name on a few compressors at the local home center.
They look like every other inexpensive compressor out there.
As for th 6.5 HP, dont believe it.
Compare the CFM at 90 psi with industrial units. you will probably find it is around a 2 HP unit. All the "Home Duty" compressors are labled this way, so don't sweat it.
As for quality, it seems that none of these are labled with the mane of the actual manufacturer, just the assembler.
My guess is till you get to the real brand names, Ingersoll etc, they are all about the same.
They can't be too bad, because I have been looking for a new tank, and can't find anyone with a dead compressor to sell cheap. :)
