I have a Stihl 028 WB that my grandfather bought back in the 80's. It still runs well and I see it being passed down to my son someday. I recently began trying to find out its model year and an original owner's manual. If anyone has any useful info, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks

Adam, try this link. There are 3 028 saws listed but not much info on the 028 Wood boss.

If you call stihl, they will provide you with an owners manual free of charge.

They have sent me 3 so far, 2 chainsaws and a trimmer.

the tag on top just says "stihl 028 wb" there is a sticker above that but the words are so worn i can"t read them. i"m not sure if this helps but it says made in "west germany" in several places. where should i look for the serial number?

Look on the top of the casting, right side in front of the top handle above the bar.
