Hi I picked up a used snow plow pump and controls to mount on my 1990 S 10 the pump has the v belt pulley on it but my truck has the serpentine grooved pulleys what is the best way to adapt it just change the pulley to serpentine or do they make something that you can bolt on. regards

I have two older Ford plow trucks. One drives from the alternator with a pulley that relpaces the nut on the alternator. It appears to be a factory mount. The mount is pretty complicated because it adjustable every way including tightening the belt. It is a good setup because the other truck has an electric lift which takes a lot of power and at night with plow lights the battery does not stay charged very well. I think that if you had a left hand tap you could tap a small cast iron pulley and put it on. that is all mine has.

Done it a couple ways, depends on the pump/mtg.I'd leave the stock set-up alone.Add a v pulley to the crank or w/p(salvage parts from older model engine). If it's the pump that mtgs over alt(monarch style, common around here),they made pulleys to add to the alt.Check w/a truck equipment company or good 'hometown'starter/alt shop. The plus to this is the serpentine drive-tensioner,belt,alignment-is stock,if your mtgs a little off its 1 v belt wearing, not the s belt, and you can take the belt off the pump in off months if you want.
