i took off the muffler today, and after a few pops it started right up, i put it back together and it seems to run great. ill go back out tomarrow and cut some wood and see if it stays running while hot and under load.

Had rep tell me few weeks ago that these new saws need a minumum of 110-130# compression to run right. The rule of thumb used to be 90#. Newer saws run higher compression, higher RPM. You need to take off muffler and check to see if cylinder is scored, sounds as though it maight be the problem. I see this a lot in saw where gasahol is used. Alchohal is a solvent and if you happen to overchoke the saw to start, it will wash the cylinder lubrication and then the scored cylinder and piston appear. My .02 worth

Check and see if the spark arrester screen in the muffler is clean. If it is pluged that could be the problem as it puts too much pressure against the exhaust reed valve.

I have had a saw not start because of a sooted up spark arrestor screen; cleaned it and and it fired right up. Also not noticed the chain brake lever engaged a couple times and pulled and pulled in frustration.

It takes a at least 100 pounds of compression to fire gas in a 2 cycle engine--new that saw would have about 140 to 150 . pull your muffler off and check your piston for scoring . Randy

SINCE YOU HAVE TRIED SEVERAL PLUGS AND I TAKE YOU HAVE TESTED TO SEE IF YOU HAVE SPARK YOU MIGHT HAVE BIG PROBLEMS. REMOVE THE MUFFLER AND TAKE A FLASHLIGHT AND SEE IF CAN SEE SCRATHES IN THE CYLINDER, ON A SAW YOU CAN HAVE GOOD COMPRESSION BUT IF THE CYLINDER IS SCOURED IT WILL NOT PUMP FUEL INTO THE COMBUSTION CHAMBER, GOOD LUCK

Have you cleaned the air filter. My 026 Pro won't start when the air filter is clogged.

When you pull the plug out is it wet? I've worked on several stihl saws that the muffler, or the exhaust ports were plugged. pull the muffler and look at the exhaust ports, if they are open and clean try starting it with the muffler off. If it starts with the muffler off then take a torch and burn your muffler out. hope this helps

We quit using Bosch plugs, had trouble with them, went to NGK, not a problem one. Had new Bosch plugs bad out the box, brand new.

I had an NGK once. It had a little twist on top. Vibration made the twist on top loose. When the saw was hot, starting was real hard.

Its probably either a bad plug or old gas, is the fuel fresh?

If that saw has a Champion spark plug in it,Take it out and throw it as far as you can into the woods.. I've run into many repair jobs where the plug will fire out of the saw , but not under presure of combustion. You can use any other brand of plug.I've seen too many instances where the Champions break down without any reason. I had a Gardner Denver air compressor with a continental gas engine. After a complete tune-up it ran beautifully [ twice ] then it acted like it wanted to start but just wouldn't catch. I went through everything, to no avail. Finally out of desperation I bought a set of Motorcraft plugs .That compressor started first time everytime for years after that.. good luck

90% of all saw problems are solved with new spark plugs. We had a new Stihl that wouldnt start: it had never run. Bad Chumpion plug new from factory! Bosch WR6F plug works best of any I"ve tried.

The rule with spark plugs in old tractors is "ABC"...anything but Champions.
