I just bought a pig in a poke it is a Ewing brand hot water pressure washer for next to nothing it is a 1.5 hp,2.2 GPM,100PSI diesel fired unit.I have some questions on how it is supposed to work.It has a pressure switch on the GP brand pump that is not hooked up I think (and please correct me if i am wrong)when the gun is released the pump motor is supposed to shut off.But the draft motor on the burner assy. runs all the time. The oil pump and the burner is controlled totaly by the thermostat. If this is right there are 2 wires coming out of the draft motor that i cannot figure out on the burner assy. that have to be together to run. What could they go to?Is this the proper mode of operation?

My Hotsy runs pretty much like Fawteens Shark. Pump go into bypass and burner shuts off when trigger is released. When finishing up I was told to turn off the burner then let the water run through the coils until it comes out cold. That's what Hotsy says anyhow.

I can't address your unit specifically, but on the Shark we use at work, the burner only fires when water is moving. When you release the trigger, the burner shuts down. As a guess, I'd say the two burner wires should be rigged to a pressure switch that detects the drop in pressure when you trigger the wand and that lights off the burner. That switch is probably mounted on the pump housing.

The pump is direct drive on ours, and runs all the time. When you release the trigger on the wand, an unloader valve (perhaps that's the wrong name) puts the pump in recirculate mode.
