Not exactly a weedeater but kind of. I just added a new tool to my arsenal. It is an Ariens walk behind line trimmer. Takes a 22 inch swath, you don't have to carry it, and it is 6 HP. Its not quite as agile as the traditional variety but it sure handles larger patches of weeds in rough ground.

Stihl FS 110 with the bike handle. You can put just about any blade you want on it.

I've been using the same FS 76 for about 11 years (7 of those commercially) and it just keeps going.

I also have a Stihl 76 that has been running flawless since purchase. I use still on the job (chainsaws w/Seattle Fire Dept)and at home.

I use an Echo 2410 and have no problem over 4 years of hard use. Line or metal blade, No Problem. I also ues an attachment called a Bever Blade, Its a round steel blade with a saw chain around the edge that makes very short work of heavy brush and small trees.
Whatever Brand you end up with buy the best you can arrord. it will pay in the long run.

I just bought a Honda 4 stroke. Works well, lots of torque and it's not as loud as a 2 stoke.

I also have the Honda four-stroke. Little heavier, much more expensive, but easy to start, cuts well, no fuel to mix, and is quieter for the amount of power. Get the optional cutting head that is easy to re-load.

We have owned a Cub Cadet model CC4075 for about half a year or so and we love it. Anything you can find to cut threw it goes. Its a 4stroke and takes regular gas and what not. It has an array of attachments and can be very very useful. All great for about 200 bucks

We rent Shindaiwa's at work. If it'll stand up to rental use, it'll stand up to anything. Lotta pro's use 'em too.

I second Honda. I hear too many stories about people letting someone else use their weed eater (ie. kids, wife, brother, etc.) and they don't mix the oil with the gas. The 4 strokes make that mistake a thing of the past.

I have had an Echo straight shaft and have used it hard on 5 acres plus clearing fence line on our mountain retreat. Use both string and saw blade. Also recently bought a "Gator" attachment with stainless steel edged plastic cutters, which makes short work of briars and wild roses.

Have used for about 5 years. Had to replace the gas line once, easy fix.

Echo seems to do a good job. I have seen some real good stihl and red max also.

I'll second the Echo vote. I've had a straight shaft model for the past 8 years that has never failed to perform...either with string head or brush blade.
