tiller tines, which way they turn

I just got a tiller someone made to fit behind a cub cadet. He had put a twist in the belt to make it turn the way I think it should. With the twist the tines will dig with the curve farward. Otherwise the tip of the tines hit first. Now here is what I never noticed before, these tines are sharp on both sides. I have 2 other tillers and the are only sharp on 1 side, the direction they turn. With that belt twisted I'm sure it won't last long. Since the tines are sharp on both sides, what would be wrong with turning it backwards? any ideas what is going on here?

my dad had a tiller for a cub cadet. if yours is made the same way it is reversible and twisting the belt does it.
dads worked exactly as you described, we really didnt eat that many belts up. we put the green GATES belts on it and they lasted.
Actually youll get a better seed bed running the tiller backwards (oppposite diection of the tractor)

With them sharp on both sides, how would you know which way they were intended to go on, either way you want?
