I see a stedy rest for my lathe on EBAY. I was thinking of gitting it, but don't know if I will ever use it. what do you think? I guess it is like a car jack, when you need it is good to have. Stan

A steady rest is handy to have... No mention of what brand & size lathe you have, if you can get one for a good price, I would go for it...Even if you never use it, it will add value to your lathe. Machine tool accessories are getting rare, as they get sold off on Ebay... BTW, Holiday weeks are a good time to buy on Ebay, since most folks are busy with other activities, prices are usually low...

If you can buy it right, do it. You can paint it up a little and have it awhile, get tired of looking at it, Sell it on fleabay as "RARE, and hard to find", make 10X what you paid for it, and 3 days after you mail it out, you will need it!

Some jobs can hardly be done with out it, 99% of my work dose not need it but then if you ever need to cut on the end of a piece that extends out from the chuck a good ways it is a must.
