do you guys have any ideas. I bought a kohler generator ,it is 24HP and produces around 60 amps at 120 volt ,it is around 20years old and hasnt been started in a few years, what is the safest way to coax this thing back to life, ,it was running on propane and will be hooked up same way by me also ,any ideas are very welcome and Merry Christmas to everyone.
Danny

If it is a propane only set up and never had any gasoline in it you should be fine as LP almost never goes bad or gums up stuff. Check the oil ,check for spark, turn on the gas and fire it up !

Drain the old gas out of the tank, and out of the carb float bowl. Remove the plug and add a tablespoon of marvel mystery oil into the cylinder and crank the engine over slowly.

I'd probably at the very least pull the float bowl off and spray the carb down good with cleaner. I'd probably go farther than that with the carb, and would give it a good disassembly and cleaning.

Fresh gas, add a new plug, new air filter and see if she'll start!

ive found that for some reason spiders love propane. working on campers, they were always clogging up lp systems that had been idle for a while.

First thing I would do is fill the cylinders with tranny fluid to loosen up the rings and valves. Then replace/clean up the points, turn it over a few time to clear the cylinders and also put in new plugs. Sorry can't help with the LP end of what might need to be done.
