Told a friend I was looking for a sleeve puller, and he sent me this. Anyone ever use one of these? And how do you block it up off the top of the engine to make it pull, dont look like there is much room to put anythign under the crosspiece. I am considering welding onto the crosspiece, but dont want to if there is a "proper" way to use this. I am used to the round plate and threaded rod pullers and have never seen one like this.

I bought one from a guy on ebay who was making them. Will make a puller for any tractor.

It is a turning to just under the bore size with a lip and a handle. You operate it with a hammer. I have not had a chance to try it yet, but boy is it a hunk of metal.

Hi: I do not think that this is a (puller) It would work ok asan insertion tool but it would never fit into the sleeve from the botttom. There is an offset in the casting so that part of the hole is covered. the lip of the puller has to be tipped a little to get past that offset. I just die a sleeve job on my 841 ford and know for sure it would not work on that.and I do not see anyway to put a rod in to pull with, I would not like to try and drive one out with a hammer probably break the casting.

If this doesnt work, you can find it on the "help identify" section under "galleries" to the left.

I'm probably ignorant, but it sure doesn't look like a sleeve puller to me!

It looks like a tool for expanding or swaging tubing.

Hopefully, someone will indentify it. If it is for another purpose, and someone could use it, it would be a shame to modify it, and mess it up!

Hey: I am with Bob do not believe that is to pull sleeves.. I can see it being a beautiful (blockbuster) I recently had to pull sleeves in my ford 841 and since I have a lathe I made my own puller as you said with a Die to fit the bottom of the sleeve and 3/4 all thread. Up thru a piece of well casing.. Worked Slick. packed the new sleeves in dry Ice and easily tapped back in with the same die in the top.. in fact the last one (had been in the dry ice longer).. Just dropped in..should have waited longer on the others. couple dollars worth of dry ice in a cooler made easy work of install..

What would be the usual length of the well casing to pull most sleeves?

The casing should be as long as the length of the sleeve. made mine half inch longer.

I thought sleeves were sealed in by an O ring at the bottom, and when that was pulled up and loose, the sleeve would lift out easily. Is it because there could be rust and crud on the sleeve that it requires a full pull? I've never pulled one out.
