Not sure what you call the thing. It kills the diesel fuel on my Datsun diesel, via a rod to the pump, or is suppose to. It wasn't doing anything, so I took it off. I took the cover off a little 12V motor attached to the end that actuates a gear to the rod. One of the brushes looked to be worn down, but had some more left. I pushed it on through and recrimped the holder. Put it back on and it jumps now, but still will not kill the fuel. It's suppose to actuate the rod when the ignition is turned off. I went by the dealer and the parts person couldn't find the part on the screen. I'll try another dealer, but in the meantime, any suggestions?

Thanks, Nathan

Why not dispense with the electric shutdown control entirely? Instead install a manual "pull to stop" knob in the dash and (similar to like is used lot's of other diesel-powered equipment). Buy a universal manual choke kit" a NAPA, etc. Connect the end of the cable to the fuel shutdown rod in place of the motor.

Yeah Bob, That's what I've been thinking about. I already have the choke cable. I would rather have the 12V unit working though. For now, I'm just choking it down with the brakes, but that's rough on the trans. I bet the new part price will make me want the choke cable more. Thanks

Hey Nathan - Killing the motor by dragging it down in gear is rough on the transmission (also on the motor mounts). Try it once with the hood open and see how the motor shakes around! Probably the pull cable will be you're lowest cost fix...
