What does that mean, silver and deming drill bits. I just got a new drill press and was looking at the princess auto book of tools and see this term used lots to describe large bits. I dont know what the term means. Thanks guys

Kinda like a "Cresent Wrench" - most people accept that it's an adjustable wrench even though they make a LOT of other good tools like "slip joint pliers" aka "Channel Locks"! And Channel Lock makes a LOT of other good tools besides "slip joint pliers"!

I to was puzzled by the term after I purchased a drill press and was looking to buy bits. I did a little research and I think the name is the name of the two people that patented them.

Hi Stu,

They are just a type of drill bit that is larger than 1/2" diameter but have shanks that are turned down to 1/2" diameter so they can be used in a 1/2" chuck.
