what size is the internal threads in shrader valves ? ie auto tire valves and AC/heat pump service valves . nearest i can determine is .204 diameter X 36 threads . i have a leaking valve core in my heat pump and i think the internal threads are damaged due to cap being tightened and distorting the threads.i need to replace the core..... thanks bill

You have large bore and small bore schrader valves on AC units. Small one is same size as common tire valves but other one is larger. They make tools to change the valve cores out in AC systems without losing all the charge if you haven't already. Use valves made for AC systems and not cheap ones for tire stems.

Four way valve core tools have a thread chaser for the internal threads, on them.

I find it difficult that anyone could tighen a cap on the outide of the valve so tight it could distort the internal threads however.

aparently its not hard to do . on the a/c service valves there is a taper to fit flared tubing . some a/c mechanics recommend replacing the all brass cap with a cap that has a rubber seal in it to prevent this problem .no i don't thik i did it . i think the man i had replace the suction accumulator may have done it .he was the last in the system ..... . bill

Many of those little tire valve core tools have a tap or chaser on one side.
