We get hobo and wolf spidees in our house. Seems to me the best way to keep them under control is to keep your house clean - Vacuum daliy, keep your laundry done (apparently they love lumps of clothing)and organize the furniture so it can be cleaned around it easily.

The hobo's are poisonous, but if the bite is defencive, chances are that it won't involve poison.

Here's a good site with info on the hobo's:

Put 2 or 3 Hedge Apples in your basement or crawl space and that will keep your hose spider free for at least a year and it won't cost you a dime.

Is it a Hobo spider? We started getting them here in Idaho 10 or so years ago, they are big, their leg spread would cover a 50 cent piece and they are poisonous.

We poured a little white vinegar in the corners of our cabin and it drove the spiders right out kept them out for 2-3 months.

Spiders are hard to kill, they do not clean/groom like other insects and so they don't easily injest the posion they walk thru.

DemonWP is a good all purpose insect killer, double strength for spiders according to the instructions. Its a pillow pack that dissolves in water in a sprayer.

Do a google search for do it yourself pest control. The outfit in Columbus, GA comes up on top of the search usually. I have personally delt with them for years, good people, small business actually.

Also use a fertlizer spreader to put a band of multipurpose granuals from Home Depot or Lowes around the house. works wonders.

Get a pump sprayer and use a product called Tempo SC, (excellent bug killer) Sold by a company called professional pest control products in Pensacola Florida. Read the directions on their website to see if Tempo SC kills spiders. The place in Florida sells many differant kinds of insecticides. Have fun.

Crushed mothballs will do the trick. Put them in a bag and crush them into powder. Lightly sprinkle it around your doorways.
