If you think a 2500W generator will do then a 5000W minimum is required. I see this happen time after time. Nothing wrong with a quality, not the cheap line of Briggs, Tecumseh etc.

I have a 5500 watt porter Cable mounted on my truck. It has a 9 hp Honda motor. It is used everyday, all day in construction work.

I won't have a generator without a Honda motor. And I use them to make a living. I've had other brands, but never again.

I have a 5000 watt Honda generator, and could not be more pleased with it. Runs real quiet, especially when just idling automatically if not in use. That Honda sat for over a year and when I pulled it out she fired right up on the first pull of the cord, sour gas or not. As for Porter Cable being a good tool, I'd agree, but not on the basis that it is a Black & Decker company.

No question that the Briggs is a good, reliable, economical power supply. But you can't deny that the Honda is quieter, and that makes you a much better neighbor. Most people also seem to agree that the Honda will last longer, but I don't have any personal evidence to support that. Porter Cable has an excellent reputation for quality, and is a division of Black & Decker. If the generator suits your needs, buy it.

Just sat next to a guy on a plane that works for a pressure washer company and he confirmed what I've allways thought and that is: Don't be fooled into paying exra money just because it's got a Honda on it. They are good but not really any beter than the rest of the small engines out there. I laugh evertime I see a $600 dollar Honda push mower. The 5hp briggs horizontal crankshaft motor is the best 5hp ever made.
