Hi

I got a older 1977 ski-doo everest snowmobile and i need to add oil in the chain case, but it does not say what kind of oil to use in there? So if some one could give me a clue of oil to use in there would be nice.My manual said how much oil to be in there ,but not what kind of oil.Do i use #30 weight or 80&90 weight, or something else special. thanks

I use synthetic atf in all my sleds. if u think about it all the newer transfer cases use chains with atf as lube.

I have a 1979 Yamaha 440 exciter, I put 80/90W in the chain case and never had a problem.

My shop manual just said, "Add 22 imp. oz. of Bombardier gearcase oil." This is for a '77 Alpine with reverse, so the quantity may be different.

I've got one of those Intertec manuals that covers a bunch of different sleds. For your sled, it says:

"Bombadier Chaincase oil or a suitable equivalent is recommended"

Sorry, I know that dosen't help much.

John deere of that era used 2-cycle oil.

The Arctic Cat oil also is formulated to seal any leaks. Had a friend tried 10 weight lost it all in a few miles.

I used to use a #30 synthetic. I put a lot of miles on and had no problems.

Artic Cats used to have a premeasured container
The oil had graphite in it
