just found this site and i hope someone can help.
i just replaced the flywheel after shearing the pin/key while mowing our rocks/lawn anyway the mower started up on the first pull of the rope and immediatly died pushed the primer bulb again,started right up and died again,and again and again.... yes there is plenty of fresh gas, new spark plug correct flywheel etc. but still ????? ? any ideas ??? HELP!!!gras is 6 (SIX) inches and growing.

Sounds like a loose blade. The blade is part of the flywheel for inertia purposes. Happened to me this last weekend.

Brian, If the thing starts, the spark is okay, and the flywheel is okay, that leaves the fuel, pull that carb apart and check for dirt, Even check the pickup in the fuel tank, sometimes there is a tiny filter on it. John

My guess would be fuel starvation, if its starting when primed. Could have junk in the carb.
