I just recently repainted my 16' car trailer. This included removing the suspension and replacing all the bushings etc. The trailer has equalizing springs. I put the springs back together as they had come off with the leaf spring ends below the equalizer bars. However, now every time I take the trailer somewhere, the equalizer will slide forward and one of the leafs ends up above it and one below it essentially negating its operation. I only foudn one diagram online as to how the axles should mount and it showed them above the spring equalizer. Should they both be above it rather than below?

I found more info that indicated that as well. I just moved mine. The problem now is that some moron (me) welded in the new fenders based on the position of the axles before. Now at rest it sits with about 1/4" between the fender and the tire.

Anybody ever put a suspension lift on a trailer?

Yes I did, sorta, my 18ft. 7K flatbed trailer was built with very little space between a LT215/75R15 and the fenders. I got a set of springs (monoleaf) from a pair of mobile home axles and put them on the trailer, same length. Now I have room to run ST225/75R15 LR-Ds with a lot more clearence than the smaller tires before. I was told it wouldn't ride good, mainly empty but I see/feel no difference.

I ordered a pair of equalizers that used to be used on old rv's and mobile homes. They are taller at 4 compared to my current 2 1/2". Hopefully they will do the job.
