Where is a good source for an electric motor for my hanging furance in my shop. Its a 1/3hp 1140rpm with a 5/8in shaft?? Can find all kinds of 1725rpm motors, it is for the fan and is direct drive!

1HP and 1740rpm will really move the air. I couldn't believe the airflow difference in my home furnace. The failed motor was a previously replaced direct drive furnace fan was a 1/4HP 1125rpm unit. Time constraints prevented obtaining a two speed 1HP 1125/1740 rpm motor. So I made do with a 1/2HP 1125rpm unit. Direct drive fan motors are on ebay. The previous 1/4HP must have been overloaded and running slower than 1125rpm. And this new 1/2HP must be running with less slippage a few rpm over 1125. The increase in airflow is astounding even though both the motors were rated at 1125rpm. The previous owners always had $$$ for booze and cigarettes. It's not surprising they would save $4.99 by using the cheapest motor they could find.

Its a common direct connected furnace fan motor. Every furnace shop, every electric motor repair shop. Epay. W.W. Grainger, especially Grainger has pages of them in their catalog.

They also come in 1, 2, 3, and 4 speed with 1125 as the fastest speed. A 6 pole AC motor.
