LED vs. Xenon bulb for Mag-Lite

The other discussion on LED's got me to thinking. How does the Mag-Lite LED replacement for my 2-D cell flashlight compare to the Xenon bulb? Is the light ouput similar in regard to distance, etc? I would assume battery life would be better with the LED. I could not find any specs on the LED light output so I could compare to the Xenon bulb.

Thanks,

Travis

Thanks for the responses. I'm kind of leery of LED's because they were not even comparable in the past, but maybe this one is up to the challenge.

Thanks,

Travis

I put the after market LED upgrade in my "mini-Maglite. The light is briter at close range, and dosen't focus like the old ones. The battery's last much longer. That works great for the job I use it for. I use it for light at distances usually less than 4 feet. But use it Every morning on and off till daylight. They also seem tougher in regards to failure due to dropping on pavement. Its been about 1.5 years now and I am only on my second set of batteries. I will definately stay with LED.

try the maglite.com site, I believe they have the specs there. I recently put one in my 3 D cell light, and brightness, distance may be slightly lower, but not enough to make much difference. It is a blueish light, which may be the reason it did not seem as bright to my old eyes. I got mine form www.tylertool.com for around $17. Link You can get one called NITE-IZE from the larger Walmarts for around $10, but they are only about 1/2 to 2/3 as bright.
