Sorry, I lost my concentration and posted this on the tractor talk forum as well. Would you really be offended if I said I've seen nicer caps on 5G pipe welds? Not roots, just caps. See below. wink, wink. Dave LoL

Dave the only way you’ll offend me is to call me late for dinner! ;o)
I too have seen much better pipe welds! I wouldn’t make a pimple on a pipe weldors behind! I worked my whole life around union pipe fitter weldors. Now the key word here is “UNION” if another trade so much as touched a piece of pipe much less welded on it, you just might find yourself wearing a pair of concrete overshoes! Majority of the pipe I ever welded was 6-G pipe test. But that was 30-years ago. I only welded professionally for about 10-years, then moved on to other parts of the trade. I worked as a supervisor over weldors longer than I actually welded. I describe it like riding a bicycle, you never really forget how; you just look like a fool doing it.

Ok, I’m lost look down at what, my feet? :o)

Dave I have listened to you whine and cry on this forum long enough without saying a word. That's no more!!!

Your tyring to lead this fourm in a direction that's not beneficial to the forum members nor the intent of any internet forum.

Carl (puddles) didn't ask for your opinon on his welds and just like you did to the other poster Billy,ny on the tractor forum.

HeII no Carl's welds aren't 100% beautiful. The mans past his prime where his eyes are failing and his eye hand coordination is off just like any other over the hill weldor INCLUDING me. I would bet however that there's thousands of newbie and experienced weldors that would die to have there welds look like Carl's does now!

What I can tell you is there's not a problem one with those welds. Are they sound welds? You bet!!! Would they pass a ceritfiction bend test? I have no doubt in my mind that they would bend and pass!!!

There's not a problem one with his design of his gooseneck adapter. Over designed, yep it is but I'll bet the gooseneck frame will be there long after the rest of the trailer will be under any conditions.

There was not a problem one with mj's design of his welding cart. It suited mj just fine. Just because it wasn't to your liking, you pi$$'d and moaned for a couple weeks now.

This would be a different story if someone would ask for opinons on there work. That's happened a few times over the past years and each poster was given good advice for improvement.

What we haven't seen from you Dave is pictures of your beautiful welds. Even if you would post pictures now, I for one would question if they were even made by you. I seen a ton of guys just like you Dave in my life time that shoot there mouth off but can't back it up when called on.

I've also let alot of wrong information pass from you as you intent was correct but just not stated technically correct that I've let slide by but no more. From now on I'm gonna call you on each little mistake and we'll see just how the other shoe fits for a change.

Dave it appears you have some good knowledge to pass on too others but your deliverly method sure sucks.

Hi Ken, long time no hear! I lost contact with you a couple years ago. I E-mailed you some pictures when we cleared for my youngest daughter’s house, but never did hear back from you. Figured I either made you mad :o( or you were down with your health.

I see I kind of stepped in something here! Sure didn’t mean to cause any trouble! :o(

Hey Carl,

Sorry I don't remember getting any e-mail from you. The last I heard from you you were busy installing the daughters place a spreading horse $hit aimed at the neighbors....LMAO (private joke folks but gees was it funny)

Ya I about bit the big one this past August. I got to feeling bad then gained another 40lbs. Gees the scale wouldn't even weigh me and kept saying "error" when I stepped on it. My grandson really got a kick out of that one. Any way I decide not to die and lost 80lbs and I feel much better now.

You didn't cause a problem one Carl. I think most here would agree your gooseneck project is very interesting and along with the in progress pics just made it that much better. And they also got a glimpse at one fine looking shop that would be the envy of most commerical shops. :o))

Hi Carl,

Do I remember something about poking the bear with a sharp stick...LMAO

When you win can you collect 3 times the cost of defense for a unwarranted law suit in WA?

I lost most of my e-mail addy's last year when I switched to Vista. My XP unit finally gave up the ghost :(

According to my 1st and 2nd lawyer you can not counter sue in this state for real estate matters, it’s a no fault state. Do you remember when we had the goats to clear the black berries, and she walked 200-feet onto my property through the woods to demand I remove the goat pen, and if I cut any trees she would sue me? She consulted with the lawyer I have now to do just that. It was August 2005!

Hi Carl,

No I mean if the law suit was brought without merrit. It's been clearly shown she has no legal right to that property before she filed suit and I would think you'd have a right to collect damages from that.

It's about the same way in AZ. We 100yr leased a piece of property from another water member for a new well site. He leased us that land in good faith then waited until we had $150,000 into the new finsihed well then filed a law suit to break the lease.

He's lost twice in court, been arrested twice for assult on our board members but yet again were back in court for the 3rd time. Apparently this time if we win we get his house and 10a and it'll be over with. The bad part is his wife is disabled mentaly and it don't sound like he's too far behind her.

Our biggest problem is our old attorney died and our new attorney likes money too well.

Nope, not in this state. I’ll never see that money again!

“Our biggest problem is our old attorney died and our new attorney likes money too well.”
I think they’re all that way, blood suckers!
Get this, December of 2006 we got into an argument on the fence line. She called the cops. Cops came to my house to hear my side. Totally different then hers. The cops tell me to stay as far away from here as possible. That was a Friday. The next Thursday we have a wind storm, Saturday morning I was cutting some of her tress off my fence, never did see her, went to the house loaded up the generator to take up to the daughter’s house to plug in her refrigerator and freezer. Cops are right behind me, search me for a gun! She called the cops said I was shooting at her. No gun, then they serve me with harassment papers have to be in court Monday. Chyrel and I show up with our lawyer, she doesn’t have hers. Judge begs her not to continue without a lawyer! Come back next week, she has her lawyer, but the new judge is and old client of my lawyer, no way is she having any part of that, come back the next week. During her testimony she dopes it on us that I beat her up on that Friday, and she need medical attention. Judge goes through the roof. He informs her she never said a word to the cops, filed a report for harassment charges. Judge picks up the report and asked her if that was her writing on the paper, she said yes. Now he is madder than a hornet. Makes her set down, I get up on the stand my lawyer does his thing, judges asks me some questions. Then says, “I’ve heard enough” Her lawyer jumps up and says "don’t I get to cross-examine him"! The judge says, "NO!" I’ve heard enough, we’re done”! See what I’m up against? Oh, her lawyer just quit a few months ago, stated “ethical reason”.

I am truly sorry I got you into this. All I wanted to do was show what taking pride in your work does! Your quality is second to none! When I first came on this forum, I was surprised that no one had ever heard of static and dynamic loading. That's the first question anyone needs to ask before they weld anything! It lets you decide what process and filler metals would be appropriate for the particular job. With that, I'll just back right off. As long as you have some pictures of how to do things the right way, everyone will be just fine. Glad I met you on here Carl! I sincerely compliment your work! Dave

No problem Dave!
Sorry for the slow reply. It’ll take me some time to get back into the swing of how this format works here on this site. All the other forums bring the last post to the top, here I have to highlight each post or I’ll miss the latest post.

Dave I think the biggest problem with these Internet forum is having to communicate only using the type written word. I know I’m horrible at it! I do much better in person.
Now lets build something, anybody else have a project going! :o)

Thanks Carl. I guess that you'd like people to ctitique your welds as I do? Makes you always try to do the next one better. My original question only asked about what process was used, not about picking it apart. I was asked and so I answered. It's too bad we weren't in your shop together for some show and tell. I'm certain that I would learn a thing or two. You can't take a weld off the internet and use it to hold your project together. Pipe welds are usually the most inspected as they are usually 100% X-Ray. Sometimes you do get overly picky inspectors though. Most of the time they say that if you can't catch your thumb nail on the edge of the weld is perfectly fine. I had an inspector tell me I had undercut once. I took my thumb nail and flicked off a piece of mill scale! That's probably why most guys run a file around the edge. I'm thinking about making an attachment for the 4 in 1 bucket on my Cat, so I can screen out rocks and twigs from a big pile of loam I pushed up. Dave

Dave are you talking about something like this? I built this for my little John Deere 4200 tractor. I had all the intension in the would of making it into a hydraulic grapple, but lost interest. I even drew up the serrated arms with Auto-Cad ready to cut on the CNC-plasma; but got side tracked and never finished it.

If you go to photobucket.com and sign up for a free membership you can upload photos to their site then post them here. Once you upload a photo to their site you just highlight the [HTML Code] box, right click the box move the curser a little to the right and click copy. Then paste it here on this site in the comments box when posting. I can’t hardly communicate with out pictures!

You sure jump to conclusions don't you! I'll bet you $100 bucks Puddles took absolutely no offence to any of my comments! I never said his weld wouldn't pass inspection! Hence the wink, wink after my comment! Puddles is a true craftsman and I mentioned that as well! When I said see below, I meant to the quiz post! MJ originally critisized me for complimenting a novice welder on his welds! I was trying to show the difference between thinking something out and slapping something together! If mj's cart works for him, fine! I'm sure puddles wouldn't want to have to make another gooseneck and really suspect that that's why he he took some time designing it! Prove to me where I have gave any wrong information? And yes, some text books are wrong! When I first came on this forum, you welcomed me, then as you gradually found out that you're not the guru, you think you are, you started to question me and insult my intelligence! I doubt that I could do as nice a weld as Puddles on that pipe! I've been welding long enough to know when I see some cranky old has been that doesn't want to be knocked off his pedestal! I apologize to the rest of the people on the forum! My intentions were always to educate people so it might be easier for them to learn the art of welding! I'm glad that some of the other experienced welders on here have complimented and agreed with me. Dave

Hi Dave,

"I've been welding long enough to know when I see some cranky old has been that doesn't want to be knocked off his pedestal!"

Maybe that's your problem Dave as your looking to do something that doesn't exist!

"I first came on this forum, you welcomed me, then as you gradually found out that you're not the guru, you think you are, "

Dave, I'm pretty sure my advice I've given on this website over the past 10yrs speaks for it's self and needs no explantion.

"you started to question me and insult my intelligence!"

I see you have a pattern of when someone try's to discuss with you about something you stated, you always come back with they insulted your intelligence! Well just get used to it as that's having a discussion via internet.

I have no ill feelings toward you Dave but weldors are artist's and even if Carl didn't take offense to your post, I sure did. Now, that I got that off my chest, stick a fork in me I'm done :o)

If Carl took offence to my post, which he didn't, he should tell me. It's not up to you to decide if someone else should take offence to a comment about their work. I welcome critism of my welding. Talk is cheap and I'd rather let people see what I can do. Carls work is superb! That's why I didn't think he'd be offended. I will as I said, just hang out and not say a thing. Glad your health is better! At least you have some good qualifications to give out advice. Others on here just wish they had and tend to make sarcastic comments to make up for it. Dave

Hi Dave,

That's where your missing the point. It takes many diffenent people in a field to get the point accross on a subject and that's even more important on the net as there's no body language to read in a reply.

No body's better than the next person. It's the group as a whole that makes this website work as well as it does.

If you start cutting poeple out of the conversasion then pretty soon you will only have a one side conversasion and boy will that get boring in a hurry and soon there will be no one around to listen and then the website fails.

I've stated here many times that sometimes before I make a comment, it takes reading someones else post to jog my memory. I've been retired too long and the info just keeps slipping away little by little.

Pretty soon I'll be saying Dave who? :o)...LOL

I thought it important to note that there have been some so called experts come on the forum. The most recent was weldor man. Well as it turns out, he's 15 years old and was just trying to help. I helped expose him and got to the truth. Single handedly I might add. Once Caleb came clean, I showed him the utmost respect as did most everyone else. You were sure quick to call out Lanse for some bad posts weren't you? I believed that Lanse was totally innocent immediately, which he confirmed. Now that I have some credibility, I think I'll just hang out and observe for a while. There are much better forums out there. Again I apologize to anyone who I may have offended. It was not my intentions! I may have flaws in my delivery, but welding is one of the few things I know what I'm talking about. Thanks to the people who have appreciated my trying to help. Sorry, you don't approve T_Bone. I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree. Dave
