Have problem finding 6 volt batteries. Is there any way I can safely use a 12 volt battery and reduce it to 6 volts to use on my tractor?? Thanks ..

It is very common to convert tractors from 6 to 12 volts. Typically it is necessary to replace the battery, generator & regulator, (or change to an internally regulated alternator) & install a ballast resistor to reduce the ignition voltage. Also, accessories such as light bulbs will have to be replaced with 12v counterparts, or resisted down to 6v. I don't know where you live, but 6 volt batteries in at least group 1 and 3EH sizes should be available at any good auto parts house, as well as any major tractor retailer. If your tractor starts & charges well, you would be better off looking around more thoroughly to source a battery than bastardizing a functional electrical system.
