3pt logging winch, magnetic clutch

Thanks to the replies from my earlier post, the problem with electric winches that I anticipate are drum capacity (really need about 130' of 5/16 cable) speed (needs to be in the neighborhood of 2'/sec) and the capacity of the tractor electrics to handle high amperage continuous draw (since it's a diesel it's really only a starting stystem)

Absolutely right about needing to be off of the tractor while using the equipment! The commercial units that are available use a mechanical winch on a deadman's lanyard (irony?) that will disengage the winch if the lanyard is released. I have found a magnetic clutch made for a front pto
from a ford 1000 series tractor (I think)

I am wondering if anyone has any idea if this type of clutch will allow for enough torque to transfer power to a pto driven winch (I would use the rear pto) An advantage of this clutch is that it would
also work as a deadman switch and it is already designed to work from tractor electrical system.

Thanks

Kim Hartshorn

BTW I am more convinced than ever that a 3pt logging winch will be necessary to do the work I need to do in anything less than 5 years :-)
