Output from a 5 HP air compressor- why would I use a 3/8 industrial connector at the end of my hose to suppy the air to my air tools vs a 1/4 NPT connector?
Is the performance better? Does it allow more air to move? Is is better/worse on air tool wear?
Someone tell me. Thx.D

3/8 connectors are for the large tools such as 1" drive impacts. You are crazy to use a 3/8 inch connector and 1/2 " hose on a 1/2" impact.

A buddy of mine used 1/2" Industrial connectors on his air hose, thinking that bigger is better. The big problem is that is takes a couple of healthy young football players to connect them! I imagine the 3/8" would be a little easier but if you don't have a strong handshake I would stick to the 1/4" couplings.

Most shop air hoses are 3/8 hose with 1/4 npt couplers. This set up will carry all the air you need for up to 3/4" impact wrenches. You may want to go 3/8 or 1/2 hose with 3/8 couplers for the larger impact tools .

If by 3/8's industrial connector you are talking about a quick coupler the advantage is obvious.
