I want to replace the front brake rotors on my pickup. I got a price from Pep Boys at 50.00 ea. I priced one from Napa, and they want 99.00 ea. Made in china also. Don't you think the rotors all came off of the same boat, and there isn't any difference other than the name on the box. I guess I could go to Ford, but then wouldn't be too sure where they came from. Stan

A google search reveals an email sent from Brakemotive to a customer stating the country of origin to be Brazil or China. If they were made in USA they would be noting this in the ad. They [Brakemotive] say no USA foundry casts rotors.Slots CNC machined in USA and you are paying alot for those slots.

All the ad says is the slots are CNC machined in USA .Nowhere does the ad say where the rotors are made.

Just to give you an idea Rock Auto has way over fifty selections of rotors for 05 F150 from 28 dollars to 185 dollars and everything in between .
Its the shipping weight that is bad with rotors.

Check Rock auto .They have warehouse clearance sometimes. I just ordered brake jobs for three vehicles and after shopping around were cheapest even with 97 dollars shipping. All names like Raybestos and Bendix . One set pads USA everything else China or India. Cadillac closeout brakes front $6.00 two wheels [that was th USA parts]. I hope they got 'em from the quality part of China and India. Was less than 1/2 Autozone unknown brands.

Pep boys ( Part # 54108G SKU: 9510995)
Oem rotor for that truck is over $90 bucks each
go cheap if you plan on getting rid of it, if you keeping it around, stay in the middle of the road for pricing
you get what you pay for, heck its only brakes, not as if they are floor mats. you certainly don't need drilled and slotted ones .

They didn't give me a choice, I thought that was all they had. They did have three choices on pads though. Stan

See what Ford's "Almost ftermarket" rotors and pads are. The ones I get are not that expensive and Made in Canada. Crappy offshore rotors are expen$ive, they have uneven carbon in the mix and cause huge hard spots, making for rough peddal pulses and fast wear.

napa sells a premium grade rotor and also an economy grade. dont see a problem with the economy grade unless you are running premium ceramic pads, they will go thru the economys quicker.
