Thinking of purchasing a 1990 John Deere 755. 20 horse power, front bucket and mowing deck, only 325 hrs of use for $11,000. What do you think? I'm a new small farmer in need of a general all-purpose machine. I'll need it for all the small farming chores to include plowing and reaping etc.

IF it`s hydrostatic drive you would be better off with a gear drive. The hydro`s are expensive to work on.

I would go with something a little bit bigger.
As far as the hydro, it's the only way to go with
loader work.

I have a 21 hp Kubota with hydrostatic, front loader, and box scraper. That has had no problem pulling the scraper full of dirt or gravel. The hydrostatic is great for using the loader, and works well when mowing too. The dealer talked me out of getting more horsepower, and I'm glad he did. I have not tried the JD, but with what you've described the price seems okay.

I just bought a 1994 755 John Deere for $5000.00, it has 605 hours on it. No loader though. My local dealer says that the going rate for one in good shape is between 6 and 7k.
I'm thinking of trying to get a tiller for it but don't know what size it will pull. Anyone got an answer?: : : : : : : : : : Thinking of purchasing a 1990 John Deere 755. 20 horse power, front bucket and mowing deck, only 325 hrs of use for $11,000. What do you think? I just bought a 755. It has a 60 Inch deck and only rear wheel drive and no extra hydrolics. It is great for mowing and heavy yard work. But I would go to a bigger tractor for any kind of farm work, I am looking for a rotary tiller for mine and think 4 ft. would be right for it. also would like to find a 4 ft. box blade. Just my thinking Ron
