I have a Cockshutt 30 with the 153 engine that
needs a new front seal. The question is how do
I get the lower pulley off? It has a crankshaft
jaw instead of the usual bolt I'm use to seeing.
How does this come apart? Threaded? Right hand or
left turn? I can not see a pin, is it pressed on?
Also where can I get a new pulley or Buda parts
in general? Thanks for any help.

Interesting! I too am overhauling a mdl 30 (and BUDA) with a buddy of mine and thought that I'd "google" the internet for some needed info and found your post! I can share with you what I've learned thus far. The crankshaft bolt (the hand crank engagement piece) unscrews counter clockwise. You'll need a BIG wrench) The front pulley is a slight interference fit with a keyed locator in the crank and the only way to remove the pulley is with TLC. We used a generic 3-prong pulley puller but by it's self that was not enough. Btwn the puller (on the OD) and two screwdrivers to help "coax" it off from behind, we got if off but with some need to straighten out the stamped steel pulley material in a couple of places. There is a vendor that sells new pulleys WITH a puller provision (slotted or drilled and tapped I assume). I don't have that vendor info at the moment, but I can get it if you need. It also appears to me the the front seal is installed from BEHIND the cam cover, unlike many other engines I've worked on. Hope this helps.

Don

I have a genset with a 4 cyl disel engine that has been tenetively identified as a Buda DYQ 4BD 153
Perhaps you could help me confirm this?
I can send you some pictures.
I'm not registered with Yes Trac so I don't what will happen when I post this. Here goes.

The 4BD 153 is a Buda for sure. I believe that it breaks down like this....4(cyl), BD (BUDA), 153 (cubic inch displacement). Hope this helps. Any idea how old that unit of yours is? Don

Thanks for replying. I know that the 4BD 153 is a Buda. But what I"m not sure of is if the engine I have is a 4BD 153. What I was hopeing was that I could email about 4 pictures to you and maybe you could tell me if it looks like what you have and know to be a buda. ???
take out the nospam and use this address for your reply. Thanks, Tcharleigh
