I have a Wards model B and I am looking for any, literally any information on this tractor. Books, people to talk to, anything. I would like to restore it and would like to talk to anyone who owns this tractor. This is a very rare tractor.

You may be referring to the Wards tractor built by the Harry A. Lowther Co. of Shelbyville, IN. This tractor was also called a "Custom" or Wards Custom. It was a pretty nice red tricycle type with a Chrysler Industrial engine. Some tractors were made with a wide front type axle of a curious design using the narrow front post and steering system. Later versions (Customs) were built by the Custom Tractor Manufacturing Co. I found this info in Wendel's Encyclopedia of American Farm Tractors.

Go to the top of your favorite "forum", above the search window, you'll see the middle selection is "view archives" , punch and you'll get archives, and then you can do a word search. It goes back years.

If is was made by Custom it will have the Chrysler motor with a New Process 5 speed tranny. The year will be on the tranny. The serial # is on the right hand frame rail just in front of the platform. There is not any information available. I own a 48 model B Lehr's Big Boy. They don't know how many were exactly made. They think there were less than 2500 total made by the Custom Tractor Co. Hope this helps.

Do a Keyword Search of the Archives.. Lots of info on different Wards tractors. You may have one that was built by the Custom Tractor Company.... Does it have a Chrysler industrial engine or a Hercules? The "Twin Row" has a Hercules engine in it

Is this the same model tractor that was called the Wards "Twin Row" that was made by Cleveland Tractor Co.? Is this the same model that was also sold by Massey Harris and called "the General", and later sold to the Avery Company and became the Avery Model A?

The "Twin Row" I'm asking about was also sold by Coop... I think these were mfg'd between '39 and '42 before being sold to Avery... I've never heard of the Wards Model B.. Can you post a picture?
