Case Magnito Problem

I recently bought two Case SC's in fair shape and am attempting to get them runnig.
The Model 41 mag (Only got one mag with both tractors)did not spark at first then I reworked it and now I get spark but from TWO of the plug wires at the SAME time when bench tested. I tried the mag to start the tractor and no go. Timing and all appear correct.
Question..... . Is there a problem with the mag...
Bad cap? or is this normal..... two cylinders spark at the same time??
Thanks!

I don't know anything about this tractor, but I assume this is a 4 cylinder tractor where the mag turns at half the RPM of the engine. If so, there should be spark only out on one wire at a time and the cap probably has a burn track between a couple of the posts. Sometimes this can be dug out, but sometimes it can't even be seen. Good luck

I had this same problem only with a John Deere D. The mag would spark on both plug wires at the same time. After spending a lot of money on cap and rotor and wires, I discovered that the solution was as stupid as spending the money. What I was doing was testing for spark with both plugs out and the wires hooked to the plugs. What I didn't realize that there was a lot of rust and corrosion under the mag where it mounted to the engine. Therefore when the mag inpulse snapped the electricity took the path of least resistance. It sparked on the cylinder that was firing and grounded by sparking on the other plug to ground! Sounds amazing doesn't it? I removed the mag and cleaned the mounting bracket with some sandpaper and the problem was solved!
