Hi Gang;
We've had intermitent rain here for past 2 weeks, some areas last week had torrential rain up to 2 inches in 24 hours. Large areas of the central & northern part of England have been seriously flooded.
Here is a typical upland West Wales old hay meadow, rapidly going to seed head and loosing grass quality. Will be made into hay when the forcast gives a week of sunshine again.

You must be in the areas getting the rain. Rain has been avoiding my township for 3 years now. Even the feilds that are ussually to wet to get into till june are dry. My pothole is a good 4-6 feet lower than average.

Howdy David!

That picture reminds me of the countryside where I live. Or at least it reminds me of here in a good year. We started the season with temps in the upper 80"s in March. Usually around mid 40"s. That jumpstarted everything. Then in April we got Feb weather. low 20"s for 3 weeks straight. Everything froze. Most of our trees are about half leaved out, hay was poor for the first cutting. Now it"s dry. We"re about 8" behind for the year and just now hitting the dry season. April and May are normally wet months. We had 1.20" in April and .33" in May. Corn is stressed, soybeans are barely out of the ground, hayfields look like they"ve been hit with Round-Up, pastures are getting bare, and lakes and streams are drying up. There"s a 60% chance of showers tomorrow, but it"ll probably be too little too late. Another week to 10 days of dry weather predicted after tomorrow. Hay prices are usually at their lowest right about now and they"re hitting all-time highs here. I sell what little hay I bale. My first cutting is already gone. It was about 1/2 of what I was hoping for. May not be a second cutting at this rate. Other than that, not bad thank you.

Proper irrigation managemant loks like this. This is the other 200 acres of the 400 acres that my other pick shows. This parcel is still in the family and is rented by a neighbor down the road from me. This pic was taken the same time as the one below, note the dust in the background. The feild blowing dust is about 3/4 mile to the left. I wonder if them folks north of there ever sent a thank you for the topsoil that landed on their feilds.

This is a 200 acre peice about 2 weeks ago. This was part of my grandads farm, is now another farmers property. Have had 3/16" since this photo. That irrigation has ran non stop the last week.

I hear ya Dave,

That joker doesn't deserve to own that property, letting it blow like that.

Guess maybe he doesn't own a rotary hoe?

Waiting for rain too - been close to a month of super dry. Went for a short trip yesterday. Saw lots of corn that was showing signs of extreme stress. Hay growth is at a standstill, and looking pretty sparse. Fields I have cut haven't made any regrowth.

And just to prove that life is not fair, after two years of deep drought here in the Lone Star, we have now instituted a new policy on the farm that no tractor moves unless the driver is wearing a life vest (j/k).

I was going to plant tifton this spring, but spring has come and gone and the rye is still in the fields. We have had twice as much rain as last year. Now watch, when it does stop there will be no rain again until late september.
