While driving through Renton WA the other day I spotted some red tractors by the community center.
Upon closer inspection they were "Farm PRO" tractors. A poster by one declared it to be a 3 cyl. diesel. They seemed to be the size of a Farmall Cub or smaller and were fitted with a variety of attachments. The semi trailers they came in had the name "Homier" on the side.
Anyone familiar with these tractors? Where are they made, etc?

You can get really cheap tools from that traveling semi place. I've bought things there. You get what you pay for. Good deal for something I won't use much or don't expect much from. Lousy deal if you buy torx wrenches for example, & want to use the soft tip for more than 1 screw....

I'd expect a tractor to be the same quality tractor as the ANTHONY TRAN character that is posting ugly messages all over this forum.

Not worth the effort, in my opinion. China is a long ways behind the western world on quality control, good castings, and oil seals. The general problems with those little Chineese tractors are broken castings & leaking oil all over.

I would expect the castings and quality control to be where the US was back in the early 60s. I agree that comparing Jimna to John Deere is like comparing a Honda to a Kia, just a better car all the way around, but you pay for every bit of it, and then some. The thing to remember is that most of the little tractors sold might see 30 to 70 hours A YEAR, I personally would find it very hard to justify spending 12 to 25 thousand on something that sees that little use. These things are an alternative to the guys who buy the little 8Ns to mow 3 acres of lawn and blade a driveway. If you are going to put some real hours or do some real work, you will be disappointed and you need to step up and buy a better tractor. The same way a guy who only piddles in his shop might have Tiawan sockets and a Craftsman rachet but a REAL MECHANIC will have Snap On in his tool box.

I do not think the quality of the Chinese machines compare to the quality of the american machines of the 60's, Many of those American machines are still going strong. The Chinese tractors appear to be a 10 year or so machine. I hear of Chinese pump shafts breaking and hydraulic hoses bursting within a month or so of purchase. Not quality parts. You get what you pay for ... if you are lucky.

The old tractors of USA manufature had good metal castings. My understanding is that China melts down all sorts of 'stuff' & casts it - you get some bimetal, some hardened ball bearings that don't melt, and so on, making a poor casting.

I would have difficulty buying a tractor off the back of a semi that visits the state once per year - just who do you complain to on warrenty issues, missing parts, and future parts needs? Do you think anyone is going to listen on the other end of the phone many states away????? That truck is gone in 24 hours, you'll have that expensive crate of parts for a long time...

As stated, for a person who wants a tractor just to have one, but isn't going to use it, they sure save you some money, but I'd still not buy one off the back of a traveling truck....

I remember that guy myself .... feeding himself on the select grains of rice while allowing me and my friends the rejected ones. I think he winked at me a few times too so I always kept one eye on my rice bowl and the other eye on his trousers. On the other hand, maybe he does sell good tractors, who knows?

I have not owned one myself. From all the information I have gathered from friends and postings about them it is sort of like buying the cheapest riding lawn mower you can find. Cheap and cheap. Things like pump shafts breaking, numerous reports of nicked o-rings in hydraulics, etc. Parts seem to be readially available. If you are very mechanically inclined and want to get by cheap, they may be for you. I can't remember the web page name for the Chinese Tractor Owners Association board right now, however that seems to be the best place for information on them. I checked them out pretty well at one time and decided they were not for me. I prefer old American iron.

You should get on farmprotractors.com. They also have a nice little 35 hp bulldozer that has a 3 point and pto.
I have not met anyone in my area that has purchased one.
They have been selling them for about 1 1/2 years. They offer a front loader and backhoe and will soon offer a tiller and mowers.
If you compare $2000 for a little craftsman lawnmower or $5000 for an ATV you can't go wrong.

My $5000.00 ATV is going many years later with out repairs, and you won't do that with a chinese tractor!! SO, in my opinion you CAN go wrong!!!

Two dealers here sold chinese tractors, and both have droped them because of so many problems.

My friends son bought one, and he's done nothing but work and fix it! In his words, junk! Robert

I agree they are a cheap tractor, but if all you need (want) is an over sized garden tractor they will fill the bill. Don't expect them to be as reliable as comparable sized John Deere or Kabota, but then again at a 1/4 the price, what can you expect. From what I have read the key is the intial set up (these are usually crate tractors) and the break in period. These tractors may have several set up problems (wiring incorrectly hooked up or hoses crossed, but the basic design is solid). Most people I have talked to say the assembley guy should run the tractor 10 hours (no load) and then drain all those crappy Chinese oils and replace with higher grade American lubes. Then do again at 50 hours. Once you get past the first 10 hours of operation these tend to soldier on with good results. If they where a real crappy product John Deere wouldn't be sueing everybody in sight and trying to block their import.

Don't forget JD is also going into business with a Chinese tractor company and already sueing their Chinese competition. We will probably see expensive green Chinese tractors over here before long.

Yep, Homier is a traveling tool sale company with Chinese made tools and now they have added a line of Chinese tractors to sell, the tractor is actually a Jinma but they will sell to anybody and put your name of choice on it. I dont know anything about the tractors as far as quality, Northern Hydraulics sells them too they call'em Nortrac.

When they stopped here back in March, they had a 2wd and a 4wd with them. I was not impressed. They sold both of them. I'd think parts could be a real pain to get. Maybe they're more of a 'throwaway' tractor than anything else, I don't know.
