Anybody have anything to do with a 825 belarus tractor. Wondering if they are really bad tractors,or fairly good. Any specific problems one should look for?

My Neighbor has owned one for 8 or 9 years now. I'm not sure of the model # but it's a little 28hp 3 cylinder diesel. His only complaints is the dealer doesn't stock any parts so everything has to be ordered. The paint wasn't that good and it has surface rust, but again it sits outside near the coast of Louisianna. Power down 3 point is a very nice feature. It's used as a community tractor therfore lots of different drivers with different work habits. All in all, he siad it was the best money spent and then it was half of what other tractors in it's hp sold for. I've used it numerous times before we moved and it was a decent little machine. I hear a lot of good stuff about the little Zetor as well, but they guy has only owned it about a year now.

I see quite a few post on them. Seems if you don't mind tinkering with your tractor, and fixing the leaks ect., a Belarus can be a fairly decent tractor. If you don't like working on things, one wouldn't be for you. By American standards they shift funny and seem a bit crude though. Robert

I have an 802 Belarus, which is basicly the same as the 825 except, the 802 is 2wd, not 4wd. I really enjoy this tractor. The engine is very fuel efficent, and is always reliable. I really like how the tractor is balanced, and how the weight is distributed throughout the tractor, I can go many places with the Belarus that I can't go with my other tractors, particulary very muddy spots in fields. I would have to say their greatest weakness would have to be their electrical system, It reminds me of the old Lucas systems used in British cars, but its really nothing to get overly concerned with. I think the 825 will have an improved hydraulic system than the 802, also the configuration of the dashboard and controls were refined in this model. If you can get acustomed to some different designs, and understand that there not the Cadillac of tractors, then there not at all a bad machine for the price.

Tom,

I have an 825. They are a decent enough tractor for the money. Where else would you be able to get an 80 HP 4wd tractor for the kind of money you can get a Belarus for? I'll admit they are a little cruder than the American tractors. I haven't had any problems getting parts. The hydraulic valves are kind of crude and prone to leaking. You just have to check and add oil from time to time. Also the turning radius could stand some improvement. I am told they have corrected these problems in the later models. The engine is very tough and fuel efficient. They also start good in cold weather.

My .02 worth.
