I have a 310 JD backhoe. Is it possible to remove the hoe and add the parts from a closely related farm tractor and have 3 point hitch and live power.Would it cost more than it would be worth in time and money? Its a mid seventies model

The John Deere 310 of the seventies (and later) is an integrated TLB where the loader and backhoe are mounted on an integral frame and are not demountable. Deere offered the similar sized JD300 or 302 for those users who wanted versatility for the tractor where the hoe is demountable to free the tractor for three-point equipment. Trying to remove the non-demountable hoe and substiitute a 3-point hitch would be a helluva task and still you wouldn't have live power since the JD310 was never designed for any PTO in the first place. Of course, anything is possible, given enough money and effort, but if it were me, and I really wanted to be able to use the tractor for mowing, etc as well as backhoe use, I would sell the 310 and buy another tractor with a removable backhoe. Like a JD 300, or 302 with a 9250 demountable backhoe (these were contemporaries of the 70's 310). Just my $0.02.
