Is Combined Insurance Co accident policy any good? I know it doesn't cover anything to do with anything motor driven. I taked to one man, he broke his hand jumping off a hay wagon, they would not pay. I got talked into this policy by a cute saleslady. Any Comments? Thanks 14bucksamonth

I've had combined for several years now . I have disability coverage . After several job related accidents I'm now on disability . Well , due to my doctor not recording that my disability was due to an accident , I lost out on that coverage . I fought it , but the doctor wouldn't change his records to help me out . Even though he agreed that my injury was from an accident he wouldn't change the wording . So I blame my doctor on that . Either way I lost about $3,000.00 .

Paid them for 3-1/2 years and when it came time for them to pay off, they said, "not covered" and cancelled, The best thing you is to send them packing and put the money in the bank !!!!! !

Now I've seen everything on these forums. OK, for any of you guys who are listening. Here's how it works. I know, because I worked for Combined Ins 35 years ago, and they haven't changed that much since then. First of all you are sold the "Little Giant" introductory policy. It covers mostly travel accidents, but does cover other things such as fire accidents and roberies. Six months later they will sell you a full coverage accident policy which covers any kind of accident. There is a death clause, loss of time, some medical, none which will ever make you rich, but they DO pay. They are good farm policies, for that very reason, and the cost is nominal considering what any insurance costs now days. My cousin farms, and carries Combined. I didn't realize it until I was there one evening and the Combined agent was there, so I didn't sell it. He and his men have collected far more in benefits than they will ever live long enough to pay in premiums. I have never known Combined not to pay if the claim form was filled out correctly by the Doctor. As I said, nobody will get rich, but they do cover every concievable accident if you buy the full coverage policy. The way they market their product, they rely on customer satisfaction more than most companies since they actively use paid claims as a selling tool. I'm not saying buy or not buy, but rather that They are NOT a fly by night company. The last time I checked, they were rated A+ excellent by Alfred M. Best co. which is an independent company that rates all insurance companies. Bottom line is that they do exactly what they say they do. If a salesman says otherwise, then he is subject to fines. When buying anything, inferrence is a powerful thing. You have to be sure you heard correctly, not what you think you heard, or want to hear. The only Lie they tell is that they will pay you if your feelings get hurt, but we all know it to be a joke.

Guess I am going to be the odd man out here but here goes. I used to have Combined Insurance. I had an accident policy that they used to offer that was a pretty good one. I had a 4 wheeler wreck one year and was in a cast for about 8 months. Was off of work (tool and die/metal stamping) for about 3 weeks and partial work for another month.

When I filed a claim the rep came to the shop and talked to me about it. He asked about disability and stuff and I told him that there were a few things that I couldn't do at work untill I got the cast off but it wasn't much.

He told me that if there was ONE part of my job that I couldn't perform that Combined considered that as disabled from work and paid me for the entire amount of time that I was under doctors care until he released me fully. I had better luck with them than I have with some other more "reputable " companies. Of course they also stopped sending a salesman around to collect my premium the next year also.

I have heard that they no longer offer the coverage that I had but I can't say for sure. I know that for me personally it was one of the most hassle free dealings I hae ever had with any insurance company.

This is in Tennessee if that might make a differnce

I don't know much about the companies willingness/ability to pay for claims. My step-mother has some insurance with this company though.

I don't know what State you are from, but here in Illinois there is a "Dept. of Insurance" that is very consumer friendly. You can check out any insurance company that does business in the State of Illinois through them. Every insurance company that does any business in the State has to go through this department for licensing. Maybe your State has a similar department.

And By The Way... Anyone that ever has a problem/conflict with an insurance company (in this State) can really get an insurance companies attention by threatening to contact the IL D. of Ins.. Just the treat of bringing the department into the situation will be enough to get the insurance company to settle up. I know from first hand experience. I seriously threatened to call the Dept. onetime when I had a dispute and could get nowhere with an agent... that agent about swallowed his tongue!

Hi Chris,

Yes, everything you say is absolutely the truth and I have had to give the Nebraska Insurance Commission a call a time or two myself. But, not with this outfit, I might add.

My problem with this little 'Combined Insurance' company is with it's objectives and it's core company goals. It of course, has to and does meet the state requirements to do business here.

What they do however, is sell insurance on a 6 month plan. That plan then is renewed by a salesman visiting you, one on one, every six months on or before the expiration date of that 6 month policy.

Their total objective in this world is to sell you more & more insurance and to always 'up the ante' at every six month period.

There is a reason that their rates are so low.....at first. Buy into their little game and I will guarantee you that within in three years you will be so sick of this outfit, you will be meeting them at the door carrying a ball bat.

This is just my opinion,

Allan

I had a problem with a health insurance company (they kept trying to get me to pay even after I had paid the entire annual deductible). I copied my letter to the company to the State Insurance Commissioner (Washington state). They not only replied, but sent a letter to the company, laying out a schedule of dates for them to follow (date for response to me and the commish, date by which I had to answer their response, etc.). The company paid up, pronto.
