Hi Guys , well I posted this on the farmall forum but haven,t got it apart yet.So will try here and see if someone on this one can help. I have all bolts out of the T/A case to transmission. The units will only come apart about 1/4" One fellow said it maybe the tranny input shaft hanging in the T/A output. How much force do I apply or is there some part in the T/A
or trans. that has to be uncoupled. I bought a manual but with my luck it doesn't cover the chassis. Please help me if you can. John

Greasy John;

I did the same thing you're doing when I split our 300U, I kept prying and I cracked the TA housing. There's a bolt that is under the bottom plate, the bolt is bottom center going back to the tranny. You don't know it's there unless you pull the bottom plate. It's the same plate that the seasonal disconnect is on but I don't think the 350 has a disconnect. What made matters worse in my mind was that I had split our 400 3 years before and forgot about that bolt. I will remember that bolt forever now, a used TA Housing cost $250.00 + shipping. May I ask why you are splitting your 350? If it's to work on the TA I believe that you have to double split to get the TA out. I have some digital pics of my SMTA TA rebuild, split through disassembly through putting back together, if your interested. Feel free to contact me.

Good Luck & Have Fun!

my book says you have to remove the seasonal disconnect cover on the bottom of the clutch housing.it is right next to the trans housing

I believe that tractor needs the dreaded double split treatment. You may need to split it at the cluch housing and remove a snap ring or bolts?? Then you can split it at the next housing. It has been a long time since I was into one of these.

RJ-AZ ,I think you may be right but I hope not!
Its awful tight when I jack up the middle stick a 1/4" peice of flat stock in then let her back down to force her apart. I am in my small (only shop )and will be half way to the hiway if I have 2 splits to make. Thanks a bunch to all and I am going into the Case/International Dealer and see if they have an oldtimer on the payroll. Oh well I wanted a winter project---Maybe 2 winters???

Greasy ifn you have to do it twice do the first split take out or loosen up what it needs then you can rejoin the tractor with a couple of bolts and make the second split leaving the first section connected to the clutch housing. Other wise it takes a lot of rigging and trapeze work.

Hi Twopop--I am almost convinced that there are bolts or lock rings somewhere on the main shaft as when I stick solid iron in the quarter inch opening between the tran-T/a case and let it down there has to be at least 1000 lbs trying to pull it apart. Will keep all posted and hope the shop mech can help me.

TWO-POP I'm going on 15 year ago memories on an old IH TA job I did while I was working in a JD shop. I beleive I started out like greasy and had to backup and double split this may have been on a newer model like a 806. The I&T manuals are not always complete on some things.
