My son found an old garden tractor, he is 14 and is really curious about this thing. Surprising it runs altough we have to tinker a bit with the trans. We are trying to find out who made it. A name plate on the front said the name was Trustworthy. It is fairly old and had a chain drive which I found unusual for a small tractor. It is painted red and has a brigs and stratton engine on it and the model number on the plate on the instrument panel was: 143302. Thanks, Paul S.

My guess is that if you look around the net a bit you will find someone who knows something about it. I would say from what you say it may have a bit of collector value. You might take it to some shows and see if anyone acts interested or knows anything about it. It sounds like your son could learn a lot by you two fixing it up and showing it. I would check it all out, lube it completly, tune it up and enjoy it. Hope you have fun with it!

Good chance it was sold by Trustworthy Hardware Stores, most of theirs were built by Murray Ohio, chain drive from separate tranny to rear axle was common drive setup prior to combination transaxle design (up to early/ mid 70s). Unfortunately not much data is available on these old units and most non-generic parts are unavailable.Items like bearings, springs etc were usually "off the shelf" items and are commonly available thru NAPA etc.Best chance of dating unit would be engine code sticker(if original motor).A longshot, which sometimes works is contacting a dealer, who MIGHT still have a manual in his parts catalog you could copy, however with fiche and now computers, most of the paper is long gone.
