Yep, Made a pressure outfit and a large four hole cabinet. And they work SUPERB. I got about 10$ in the pressure one and A outlay of 40$ in the big Cabinet. ( which retails for around 2500$ One thing though have a good air compressor ( you can get them at a reasonable cost. Remember Van Goah might have used cheap brushes , but he had good paint.

I've built several First thing is what size comp. are you going to run it with? You don't want a tank that will hold 200# with a shop comp. You will use to much air charging the pot if it's not clear full of sand. I use air tanks from semi's they hold about 100#. I build pressure tanks they work a lot better.

Yes out of 100lb propane tank. It will hold about 250lb sand or so. Get ceramic nozzles from WW GRAINGER. Made the nozzle holder outr of a pipe cap and nipple and a piece of pvc for bushing. Have a 75cfm old JEAGER with CONT. motor rated at 75cfm and run a 3/16 nozzle which requires 40cfm at 80lbs. The 1/4 nozzle requires 80cfm at 60lbs. The big thing is what do you have for a compressor as it does take CFM.

WHY WOULD YOU WANT TO MAKE ONE-WHEN YOU CAN BUY ONE AT HARBOR FREIGHT $79-- THE SERCERT TO IT IS A GOOD COMPRESSOR-- THAT RECOVERS FAST

Easily done, just need a pressure vessel, like a 100# propane tank, 4 or so ball valves, a urethane donut for sealing the fill port, a remote air switch so you can turn it on without running around, a 20-50 foot sandblaster hose, 2 or 3 nozzles, and a real big compressor. Problem is don't let anyone use it or liability lawyers will find you. Will cost you $2-300 more to buy one complete. Turn the tank upside down, cut off the bottom, flip it over and weld in for the fill port- oops, first cut hole and fix the donut and ball, then weld in.

Well, I tried! Used a few plumbing fittings, a snap on coupler for air hose, jammed a portion of tubing out of a valve stem to form a jet - and jammed pop-rivet, minus shank in the valve stem to further reduce the airflow. A REAL RUBE GOLBERG SETUP>Yes it worked! No, it didn't work real well! I attached a plastic hose to the sand intake port, now I use it as a mini-vacuum, for things like sucking gasoline out of small engine tanks, etc. For a few bucks you can get a hand held blaster nozzle with a hose attachment to suck sand from a bag/bucket. You can add a homemade funnel fairly easily, and it is far superior to what you can probably "rig up."

Yes Nicholous I did some years ago it was a cabinet made of steel and welded, the problems I encounterd were the sand getting contaminated quickly, dust extraction, getting enough light into the unit to see the work as it clouded up when cleaning metal (rusty)and getting a good seal on the side loading door. My cabinet would easily hold two VW Beetle wings or if you like two people sitting inside so it was large, my compressor was the largest I could get in the UK using a single phase motor but Ive forgotton its capacity although I can find out.Prof.
