Can anyone tell me what the two shafts that come out the top of the Hyd valves do? They stick up into the steering standard and have flats on 2 sides like maybe for a 5/8 wrench and look like they would turn about 30 degrees judging by the roll pin guides. Someone in the past has enlarged or made a hole in the valve side of the standard ! For access??? to turn the one on the far right ---the left is accessable from the front of the standard. Thanks in adv. John

There should be a little pin sticking through the end of the shaft. If you clean up the old grease and paint around the shaft you may find the letters "D" and "S". By the way, according to the operators's manual, the shaft is called a "Control valve indexing bushing".There was also a special wrench available to turn them. Probably the reason the metal had been cut away was for access with a regular open end wrench.

Tnx again Harold--I'll do some scrathing around and see if I can find the letters. I have it pretty clean but never looked at it when I had the steering bracket off.

On the 300 those shafts change the valve from single to double acting, depending on what type of cylinder you are using.I would guess that they do the same on the 350.
