Massey Combine Movie

Does anyone remember or have information on a movie that was aired on television when I was a youngster (mid-70's) about a custom harvester out west? If memory serves me it was called "Golden Trails from Texas" or something like that. The operation ran all Massey machines, 750's I think. With all the videos for sale these days and RFD-TV I keep thinking this movie will surface again. Seems like the Massey dealers in this area might have bought some commercial time when it was aired. Just curious if anyone else might remember this. Thanks in advance, Mike.

There was another movie called "Wild Harvest" with Alan Ladd & Dorothy Lamour that featured Massey Harris Combines. (Made in 1947--before your time maybe?)

Dorothy Lamour, is that Louis Lamours wife?
sounds familiar...

According to IMDB, there was another movie entitled "Wild Harvest" made in 1961. Possibly a remake.

Could this be "Amber Waves" starring Dennis Weaver, made in 1980

That was a good movie, always liked Dennis Weaver, but even though there were plenty of wheatfield and combine shots, the plot was about his son that dodged the draft by running to Canada.

While I don't remember a movie with similar lines, I do remember one where a man and his brother-in-law are at each other for a good portion of the movie.

There is an old combine demolition derby in the one I'm thinking of.

You might try the link I've provided. If you can remember any of the actors or more of a plot line Internet Movie Data Base can do a search for you.
They are an excellent source for such information.

Do you remember who might have starred?

The one I was thinking of I had recorded on the VCR. It is "American Farmer" with Wayne Rogers.
In it Rogers is running Deeres while his brother-in-law is running Gleaners. Not the one you were seeking.

Checking IMDB for Wayne Rogers shows that he was in "American Harvest", a 1987 movie aka "Race Against the Harvest". I'm guessing it is the movie I have recorded which shows the title as "American Farmer".

Hi guys, I too have often longed for another airing of this film as it certainly fired my imagination as a youngster, but I think the combines were 500 series if my memory is working correct and I also recall my brother saying he had come across this story in print in a copy of the "National Geographic" magazine.I also think it may have been titled "The Thousand Mile Harvest" Hope someone finds it!
Cheers, Ali.

That seems to ring a bell with me too. It was shown as a TV programme over. As a matter of fact so was '2000 Mile Harvest', (With the John Deeres) I do have the video for that one.

I have a copy of the 2000 mile harvest myself. Great movie, the Massey movie was very similar, just took place about twenty years earlier. I got my copy of the 2000 mile harvest from Diamond Farm Book Publishers if I remember.

Glad someone remembers. I was starting to doubt my memory. Too bad there aren't any of the old Massey dealers around here anymore. Only one left and the younger guys there don't remember anything about this movie either.
